The Lake County Fair Parade is our only mandatory parade and all Young Marines are expected to participate. Recruits are invited to participate as well.

Details

• Date: August 17, 2016
• Drop off: 1700 at the First Church of Christ, 422 Mentor Avenue in Painesville (directly across from Lake Erie College). Participants should enter the church parking lot from Jackson Street.
• Pick up: 1845 at the back gate of the fairgrounds off of Fairgrounds Road.
• Uniforms: Squared away with proper haircuts. Recruits are to wear their red unit t-shirt and solid black mesh shorts (no stripes). Bring your canteens (water bottles are not permitted).

Other

We are usually one of the first marching units in the parade and we are done while the rest of the parade continues so parents will need to pick up their Young Marine at the back gate at 1845. We strongly encourage parents to watch the parade right around the area of the back gate to alleviate any trouble getting to the pick up location while the parade continues.

Parade participants usually get their hand stamped so they can get free admission to the fair after the parade.

Young Marines receive community service hours for participating in the parade.

All Young Marines and recruits are required to contact Mrs. Dubin via email at trainingofficer@glcyoungmarines.org by Friday, 13 August and let her know if they can or cannot attend.
