Since the Gathering of the Eagles Airshow is July 19 and 20 at Lost Nation Airport and we help USAM every year with the event, we are changing the drill schedule for July.

We will have drill on Saturday AND Sunday at the airshow and expect all Young Marines to participate. Please note the drop off and pick up times:

Saturday, July 19, 2014
Drop off: 0945 am
Pick up: 1730 pm

Sunday, July 20, 2014
Drop off: 0945 am
Pick up: 1630 pm

Because we are having drill on Sunday, we are CANCELLING drill on Monday, July 21. Please make a note of it.

We will have a small tent setup on Saturday and Sunday next to the USAM tent. Please bring your Young Marine there and be sure to check in with a unit staff member (if a unit staff member is not there at that time, please wait or find one). DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR YOUNG MARINE AND LEAVE WITHOUT DOING SO. Parents are not required to stay for this event. You will not need to pay admission at the gate. Simply tell them you are with the Young Marines and they will let you in.

Attire

• Uniform, yellow unit t-shirt. Young Marines must be squared away including proper hair cuts. They will be inspected by one of the unit staff. If they are not squared away, they will be sent home.
• Young Marines will need to bring their canteens filled with water. No water bottles are permitted as they are not part of the Young Marines uniform! The weather is typically very hot so it’s important that Young Marines are properly hydrated.

Other information

This is an outdoor event so PLEASE make sure your Young Marine brings sunscreen.

Bring a camping-type/lawn chair as well.

Volunteers are served lunch but you may want to give your Young Marine spending money as there are several food vendors on the premises.

Young Marines will receive community service hours for this event.

As always, drill is mandatory. To receive an excused absence, you must email attendance@glcyoungmarines.org prior to the start of drill.
