For Parents
Parents' Meeting Notes from February
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the parents' meeting. It was great to have such a good turn out. The following items were discussed:
Summer activities. Parents were given a form with all the summer activities we would like to participate in. We ask that everyone return the forms at March's drill. We will schedule the activities based on the amount of participation we have.
Camp Perry. Mr. VonKiparski talked to the parents about the National Matches at Camp Perry. While this is not a unit event, Young Marines and parents are welcome to attend.
Lunch Program. Jean Carter is coordinating the lunch program. Every Saturday of drill, the parents will be providing lunch to the Young Marines. Jean will have a sign up sheet at drill for the following month. Young Marines will not need a lunch on Saturday but will need one for Sunday unless there enough "left overs" to have them the next day.
2010 Young Marines Ball. We are looking for a parent to head up the ball committee. We would like to have the ball either 15 or 16 October. Please contact Mr. Sickles if you are interested.
Informational Parents Meetings
Informational parents meeting are held every Saturday of drill at 1530 unless otherwise stated. Parental involvement is vital to the success of the unit and all parents and guardians of all Young Marines and Recruits are encouraged to attend these important meetings. It's great way to stay informed of upcoming events, to share ideas of potential fundraisers, to discuss possible training weekend activities and to discuss ways that you can best support our unit.
If there is anything in particular you would like to have put on the agenda/would like to discuss, please contact Bill Sickles, Phone: 440.413.6707.

Proud Supporter Items Are Available
Proud supporter tshirts and sweatshirts are available. They will be on sale at drill every drill. Tshirts are $10 and sweatshirts are $15.
Uniform Order Policy
To save on shipping fees, we will only order new uniforms twice a year with every new recruit class. A notice is sent out to everyone before we place the order so it's a good time to check and see if your Young Marine needs a uniform. If your Young Marine needs a new uniform, this is the policy:
If he or she only needs a blouse or trousers, check with Mrs. Cimino to see if we have the correct used size in stock. If we do and if your Young Marine's item is serviceable and can be reused, you can exchange it with the used uniform free of charge. In the event that you need to order an item or if we don't have a used one in stock, you will need to purchase both pieces. Since the uniforms fade with frequent washing, it would look inappropriate to have a brand new blouse but faded trousers or vice versa. The blouse and trousers are $20 each. Also, if we have a uniform in stock but you desire to have brand new uniform, we can order one for you but you have to purchase the uniform plus pay shipping charges. We have uniforms from recruits who never finished boot camp and never wore their uniform but it's been washed once and the name tapes and badges get sewn on them. Even though these are technically "used", we consider them "nearly new" because they have never been worn. These uniform items are $20 each as well.
Anyone who orders a uniform any time other then when we have a recruit class will be responsible for paying the shipping charges.
We do not offer an exchange policy on boots. Therefore, Young Marines needing need boots will have to order new ones. They cost $20.
New uniform requests need to be made in writing. The form will be available at drill or a pdf version can be dowloaded here. Please make sure when you are filling out the forms that you put the appropriate size that you need ordered.
All items that need to be ordered must be paid for in advance before the order is placed. This includes uniforms, boots, PT shorts, parent t-shirts, etc.
Please note: We do not offer an exchange program for PT gear including sweatshirts, sweatpants and shorts.
