Discharge Ceremony For Gunny Silvestro

We will have a discharge ceremony for Gunny Silvestro on Sunday, January 22 during drill. After the ceremony, we will have a luncheon. The unit wil provide the main dish and everyone else is asked to bring sides. The unit will provide the cake so we do not need any other deserts. All Young Marines, recruits, and families are invited to attend. Young Marines and recruits will be dismissed after the luncheaon. An invitiation will be emailed to everyone shortly.

As mentioned at December's parents' meeting, we are having a fundraiser selling tickets to the Lake Erie Monster's Game. The game will be on Saturday, April 14. Tickets are on sale now through March 18. See the attached pdf for information and order form.

We are pleased to announce that Dawn Clark has joined the staff as the unit adjutant. From now on, all Young Marines and recruits are required to contact her directly if they will NOT be at drill or will be late for whatever reason.

Lately, we have had a number of Young Marines come to us needing new ribbons and ribbon bars because theirs have been lost and/or broken. The unit only covers the cost of the initial ribbon, device (if earned) and bar when they are awarded. After the initial issue, if the ribbons/devices get lost or the ribbon bars get broken, the Young Marine must pay for the new items. Ribbons are 50 cents, devices are $1, and new ribbon bars are $5.

The National Young Marines has authorized new boots that Young Marines can wear with their uniforms. The boots will be available for purchase online in the next several weeks and will cost $44.35. Click here for more information. Please note, if you are interested in purchasing the boots for your Young Marine, you will order them directly though the National Young Marines website.

Young Marines are required to have black shorts for their PT uniform. We have a limited supply of small, large and extra large shorts in the supply room. The cost is $15. If we do not have the size your Young Marine needs, you can order the black mesh shorts through the Chester's Supply Depot.

All parents are required to sign in/sign out their Young Marines/Recruits at every drill, except for the Young Marines who drive themselves.

We have ordered more proud supporter sweatshirts. They will be on sale at drill every drill and cost $15. We also have Tshirts available for $10. We also have a couple of navy blue Proud Parent Tshirts left. They are $10.
