Unit Fundraising Activities
Funding
While we do receive some financial support from local veterans organizations, we are a self-funded organization and rely on dues, fundraisers and generous donations to support our unit. If you are interested in becoming a support of the Greater Lake Young Marines Supporter, visit our Supporters page.

Gordon Food Service
Our unit has an account at Gordon Food Service and we receive an annual rebate based on our purchases. Purchases can be made for personal use (they don't have to be something purchased for the unit), so friends and family can make purchases there and our unit will get the credit. Gordon Food Service, for those of you who are not familiar with the store, is similar to Sam's Club, BJs and Costco but there is no membership fee. It's a great way for our unit to earn money that doesn't cost us anything!
If you would like a card, please contact Mrs. Cimino.
Donate a Vehicle to Charity
Our unit has been approved as a charity on a vehicle donation program through Car Donation LLC (www.donateacar.com). Car Donation LLC accepts cars, boats, RVs, motorcycles, jet skis, trailers, etc. whether they are running or not and the donor gets to write it off the value of the vehicle as a charitable contribution. There is no effort or cost on our part. All the donor has to do is fill out a Vehicle Donation form, fax it to Car Donation LLC and Car Donation LLC arranges for pick up and takes care of all the paperwork. And anyone anywhere in the country can donate their vehicle and we get the credit for it. So if you have relatives in California who have something to donate, all they have to do is fill out the form, fax it in, and Car Donation LLC takes care of the rest. Our unit receives 70% of the value of the vehicle so for example, on a $500 donated car, we receive $350. It's another excellent way for us to earn money for the unit that doesn't require Young Marines, parents, and staff to sell anything.
Please contact Mrs. Cimino if you have any questions.
Patriotic Yard Signs
The unit is selling yard signs. Click here to see what they look like. The sign proudly displays the United States flag and the words "God Bless America, We Support the Young Marines."
For a donation, you can show your support for not only our country, but for the Young Marine program. They will be available at drill.
The proceeds from this fundraiser will help pay for the bricks our unit purchased to honor the memories of LCpls Andy Nowacki and Brian Montgomery, two local Marines who were killed in action in Iraq. The bricks will be a part of the walkway at the National Marine Corps Museum in Washington, DC.
Have an Idea for a Fundraiser?
If you have an idea for a unit fundraiser, we'd love to hear it. We are always looking for great ways to raise money for the unit. Contact Dawn Clark to share your ideas or bring them to the next informational parents meeting. All fundraising activities must be reviewed by and approved by the staff.
